Saand Ki Aankh: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal declares Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar’s film tax-free

Saand Ki Aankh seems to have garnered the positive attention of some state governments. After Uttar Pradesh, the film has now been declared tax-free in Delhi as well.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, recently announced the news on social media, stating that the film’s “message should reach to people of every age, gender & background―The power of a dream, & the power derived from it to achieve it, despite any socio-cultural blocks.”

Taapsee Pannu, who plays one of the female leads alongside Bhumi Pednekar in the film, replied to Kejriwal’s news and thanked him. Bhumi had also thanked the politician after he attended the screening of the film. Kejriwal’s family, and education minister Manish Sisodia had also attended the screening.

Helmed by Tushar Hiranandani, Saand Ki Aankh depicts the heroic story of the world’s oldest sharpshooters — Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.

Apart from Taapsee and Bhumi, Saand Ki Aankh also features director Prakash Jha and Mukkabaaz actor Viineet Singh in pivotal roles. The film was criticised by senior actresses for casting two young actresses in the roles of 60-year-olds. Set in the hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh, the film went on floors in Meerut in February. Originally titled Womaniya, the film was renamed Saand Ki Aankh, following a title rights dispute.

Recently, Saand Ki Aankh was also exempted from the state Goods and Services Tax (SGST) in Rajasthan.

Made in China: Rajkummar Rao’s Raghu is smitten with Mouni Roy’s Rukmini in new song ‘Valam’

After releasing the recreated version of the foot-tapping number ‘Odhani’, and yet another rendition of a Gujarati folk song, ‘Sanedo’, the makers of Made in China have released ‘Valam’. The song is picturised on Raghu (Rajkummar Rao) and Rukmini (Mouni Roy) in the early days of their marriage. Raghu seems completely smitten with his wife.

The video also showcases some of the playful moments of their relationship, where Raghu makes a heart-shaped roti, and the two secretly drink in an abandoned place, but ultimately get caught by the cops on their way back home.

“‘Valam’ is a departure from the rest of the songs and adds soul to the album. While Raghu is busy chasing his dreams, it’s his wife Rukmini (Mouni) who is the wind beneath his wings, encouraging him every step of the way. And that’s what this song personifies — the meaning of true love and honest relationships. We had a blast shooting for all the songs, but filming this one was a relaxed and effortless experience. It was driven by the idea of building and celebrating a connection,”

Arijit Singh and Priya Saraiya duet in ‘Valam’, composed by duo Sachin-Jigar. Priya has written the lyrics with Sachin Sanghvi.

Made in China, which releases during the Diwali weekend, is based on the life of a struggling Gujarati businessman, who embarks on a journey to China in order to make his business flourish. The film has been helmed by National Award-winner Mikhil Musale, who won the best director for his 2016 thriller, Wrong Side Raju.

Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra to dub for Disney’s Frozen 2

With Elsa being filled with intrigue as to why was she born with magical powers, her sister Anna is the happy-go-lucky forever optimist. Priyanka and Parineeti fit perfectly into giving Elsa and Anna the much-needed depth to their voices.

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas along with her sister and actress Parineeti Chopra will be dubbing for the Hindi version of Hollywood animated movie “Frozen 2″. Disney India has roped in Priyanka to dub for Elsa and Parineeti will voice for Anna in the upcoming sequel of hit film “Frozen”.

“Elsa is a fictional character who’s known to be strongly-opinionated and level headed, traits that I deeply connect with. This not only made me want to be part of the film, but also gives me a wonderful opportunity to present one of the most-successful animated films to our local audiences,” Priyanka Chopra said.

“My happiness just goes up a notch knowing that Parineeti Chopra will be voicing Anna’s character. The two of us have never worked together before and this seems like a perfect movie to come together and an experience that I am going to cherish forever,” she added.

Talking about entering the “Frozen” world, Parineeti said: “You don’t need to be an actress to dream of being a Disney princess!! I absolutely loved the first film, it’s my favourite animation film but never thought that I’d get to voice Anna. But of course the real cherry on the cake is that I’ve been cast in a film about sisters with my real life sister!! While dubbing we would keep laughing about the fact that we are actually like our characters in real life! Mimi didi is totally like Elsa and I’m totally like Anna! This is why this movie will always be special. I can’t wait for the audience response.

The second part of the Disney franchise promises to be more intense as it traces the pasts of Princesses Anna and Elsa, voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel in Hollywood version, respectively, and piece together their present.

With Elsa being filled with intrigue as to why was she born with magical powers, her sister Anna is the happy-go-lucky forever optimist.

Priyanka and Parineeti fit perfectly into giving Elsa and Anna the much-needed depth to their voices.

“With Elsa and Anna, both sisters, boasting their own fan following amongst young girls world over, having Priyanka and Parineeti to voice these two felt no less than perfect. From being just a character, Elsa has grown to be no less than a superhero that girls around the world now connect with. She, along with Anna, continue to empower girls owing to their powerful personalities. The bond between the two is so strong that we wanted to bring in a real sibling duo for these two roles. The chemistry that we are looking for is something that Priyanka and Parineeti bring with them and is sure to elevate the film-watching experience.” said Bikram Duggal, Head – Studio Entertainment, Disney India.

Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, “Frozen 2″ will release in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on November 22.

This comes close on the heels of another announcement where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has dubbed for Angelina Jolie’s character in “Maleficent: The Mistress of Evil.

Siddharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill are released from the jail

It is said that everything is fair in love and war and the contestants inside the Bigg Boss house swear by it. Spending a night in jail was no less than a nightmare for Shehnaz and Sidharth Shukla but they turned that into an entertainment-filled time. As the morning arrives, the contestants wake up to ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi Loot Gaya’ hinting that something interesting awaits. Rashami takes the quiet morning as an opportunity to have a conversation with Siddhartha Dey and Shefali Bagga about Devoleena’s behavior. Later, she also reveals the issues she had with Sidharth Shukla when they were shooting together. She adds that Shukla used to be very aggressive on the set and was known for throwing a lot of tantrums. She further states how people thought that he was biased towards female co-stars. Interrupting this intense conversation, Bigg Boss announces that Shehnaz and Sidharth Shukla can now be released from the jail.

He further announces a task that gives the opportunity to two of the nominated boys from this week’s eliminations. They are divided into two teams – Paras and Siddhartha Dey in one team and while Abu Malik and Asim Riaz in the second one. There are two walls placed in the garden area with one big hole in the center. Both the boys have to sit on either side of the wall holding their teammate’s hand through the hole. The girls of the house have all the liberties to ensure that one of them loses the grip.

After the first buzzer, the boys take their place and brace themselves for the task ahead. Sidharth Shukla is chosen as the ‘sanchalak’ of the task. The second buzzer rings and the girls start pulling out all the possible tricks to get the boys who they don’t want to save, to give up. Shehnaz and Aarti target Siddhartha Dey and Paras, whereas Shefali, Devoleena and Rashami target Asim and Abu Malik. The girls let go of all their innocence and put on their evil masks to hopefully get their least favorites out of the way.

The Sky Is Pink movie review: Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar deliver a beautiful and heartwarming adaptation of Aisha Chaudhary’s book

After Margarita With A Straw, a film based on a teenager with cerebral palsy, director Shonali Bose has a new tale to tell. This time around, the filmmaker is here to narrate the real-life story of the Chaudharys – Aditi, Niren and their daughter Aisha, who suffered from pulmonary fibrosis. Titled The Sky Is Pink, the movie features Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf in lead roles. Here’s our review of the film…

What’s it about

Set in Delhi and London, The Sky Is Pink sheds light on the love life of a couple of Aditi (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) aka Moose and Niren Chaudhary (Farhan Akhtar) aka Panda. It primarily focuses on the fact that live your life to the fullest because of Zindagi na Milegi Dobara. Panda and Moose’s life is all rosy until one thing strikes and turns their life upside down – a ‘faulty’ gene of the couple, which has a possibility of harming their kids with a severe combined immune deficiency (SCID). Blame it on the destiny or something else, their second child, Aisha Chaudhary (Zaira Wasim), is born with SCID. As far as their first child, Ishaan is concerned, he seems to be in pink of his health. Aisha undergoes a bone marrow transplant, however, 13 years later, the after-effects of chemotherapy take a toll on her health. The teenager is diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a serious condition. Is this all that sums up The Sky Is Pink? Definitely not!

What’s hot

Was Priyanka Chopra Jonas away from Bollywood for the past few years? Not at all. The actress has made the wait, totally worth it. Watching Priyanka back in a Hindi film was nothing less than a visual treat. Nothing’s changed about our desi girl. She’s just given us one more reason to love her acting chops and watch her on the 70mm screen. Talking about Farhan Akhtar’s portrayal of a doting and hardworking father, the actor does justice to his part. Farhan and Priyanka’s camaraderie is so fine and they age like fine wine. Their romance seems like a breath of fresh air.

As for Zaira Wasim, we wish she hadn’t bid adieu to the films. Her narration, as well as her act as Aisha Chaudhary, is so beautiful. Her narration part is incorporated well as per the storyline. It’s gripping. Rohit Saraf, who plays a cool brother to Zaira, does a fair job. Besides the star cast, what impressed us most about The Sky Is Pink was the learning that it gave us – Death is inevitable. As long as you live, make sure you live to the fullest, no matter the thunderstorms in your journey. Thanks to Shonali Bose for giving us a new perspective towards life and death.

What’s not

The length. The film could have been trimmed easily by at least 20 minutes. Things could have been established in a short span of time. There are few junctures in the film when you almost lose hold and feel like giving up.
